Jay Baker's professional entertainment career began at the age of seventeen as a musical stage performer, and he soon found himself relocating to Los Angeles where he spent the next two decades working as an actor.
Eagle-eyed viewers will recognize Jay's appearances on popular television series of the 80s and 90s, including The Dukes of Hazzard in 1979, Baywatch in 1989, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1993. He has also featured in cult classic films such as April Fool's Day in 1986 and Shag in 1988.
In 2001, after moving his family back to his native Tennessee, Jay sought a way to combine his skills as a carpenter and handyman with his professional pursuits in television. This endeavor paid off when he was booked as an on-air carpenter for the Emmy-nominated home improvement program "Warehouse Warriors" on DIY Network.
Jay continued to host a number of home improvement programs, including "Build and Outdoor Kitchen", Floors, Doors & Windows in 2003, and two popular "Ultimate Workshop" series, The Ultimate Workshop II in 2003. In 2003, he and his co-hosts from "Warehouse Warriors" provided their carpentry and contracting expertise to the families of service men and women serving in Iraq for the DIY Network series "Help on the Homefront".
Jay has also found success as an award-winning producer for Knoxville, TN-based RIVR Media, working on series such as DIY to the Rescue in 2003, Grounds for Improvement in 2005, and Wasted Spaces in 2006.
When he's not working on a television program, Jay enjoys spending time with his two children, taking a walk in the woods to feed his fascination with nature, and sharing his lakeside home with friends and loved ones.
