Prior to establishing his own film production company, A Private View, in Ghent, Belgium in 1994, van Rijckeghem pursued a master's degree in translation and worked in various roles, including as a press officer, reporter, and journalist.
As a writer and producer, van Rijckeghem has been involved in the creation of numerous feature films, including the critically acclaimed Moscow, Belgium, which won the Cannes Critics' Week award in 2008, and Oxygen, which received the European Film Award's discovery award in 2010.
Van Rijckeghem often collaborates with his business partner, Dries Phlypo, to form a production team, and has served as both a producer on his own scripts and a co-producer on many others.
In addition to his work in film, van Rijckeghem has also ventured into television, co-creating and co-writing the series Amigo's in 2015 alongside Pierre De Clercq.
