Jean-Paul Chreky has had a prolific career in the film industry, with over seventy films to his credit. In addition to his work behind the camera, he has also taught film production classes at several esteemed institutions, including the University of Miami, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, American University, and the Jacobson Sinai Academy.
As a child, Jean-Paul was a multi-talented individual with a variety of interests. He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Master Scuba Diver certification, and he was also an accomplished musician, playing the violin and clarinet. He was an avid sports enthusiast and had a deep appreciation for nature, which led him to major in Biology at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington.
However, it was during his time at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington that Jean-Paul's passion for filmmaking began to develop. He decided to pursue a career in filmmaking rather than attending medical school, and he went on to graduate at the top of his class with a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture Production and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami.
Jean-Paul's graduate thesis film, The Shell (2005),was a major success, winning four of seven possible awards at the 2005 Canes Film Festival, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editor, and Best Music. His graduate first-year film, Triton (2004),also received critical acclaim, winning the Jury Award, Best Director Award, and Best Cinematography Award.
In 2008, a film he produced, No One Doubts the Camera Eye (2008),won the Best Picture and Best Editor awards at the same event. Jean-Paul is the only University of Miami MFA film student to ever win the Best Director Award for both his thesis film and his first-year film.
The Shell (2005),No One Doubts the Camera Eye (2008),and Trunk (2009) are also Florida Choice Award recipients, selected by The Education Channel, and have screened at Paramount Studios.
Jean-Paul has also worked in the film industry, serving as a press junket organizer and assistant to producer Jerry Bruckheimer on Glory Road (2006) for Walt Disney Pictures. He has also worked as a partner at Orca Entertainment, a motion picture financing company for the major Hollywood Studios.
Today, Jean-Paul continues to support the development of a multitude of productions and teaches filmmaking across the globe.
