Jeffry Ryan Chaffin, a multitalented filmmaker with a profound passion for the cinematic arts, came into the world on November 14, 1975, in Irving, Texas, a city situated just west of the bustling metropolis of Dallas. From a very young age, Chaffin's innate creativity and enthusiasm for filmmaking began to take shape, eventually leading him to establish his own production company, Backyard Films Presents, at the tender age of 13.
During his formative years, Chaffin would often gather his neighborhood friends to recreate his favorite films on video, showcasing his versatility by tackling a diverse range of genres, including the beloved classic "The Goonies", the iconic science fiction series "Star Trek", epic westerns, high-octane kung-fu films, and thrilling superhero movies.
Following his graduation from Columbia College Chicago in 1998, Jeffry embarked on a journey to Los Angeles, driven by a burning passion to break into the film industry. He took on a variety of jobs to gain valuable experience and make a name for himself in the competitive world of entertainment. Among his many responsibilities, Jeffry delivered scripts to various production companies, ran errands for post-production houses, and provided assistance with editing, honing his skills and learning the ins and outs of the industry. He also had the opportunity to work as a grip on movie sets, lending a hand to the behind-the-scenes crew and gaining a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process. Additionally, Jeffry would often take in sides from casting offices at Showfax, staying up-to-date with the latest talent and developments in the industry. It was during this time that he crossed paths with filmmaker Scott Feinblatt, a chance encounter that would ultimately lead to a fruitful collaboration on the found footage film "Outtake Reel."
Jeffry's inaugural foray into the realm of 16mm filmmaking was marked by the creation of "Pinto Bean", a cinematic endeavour undertaken during his collegiate years. This initial foray into the world of film was followed by the production of the micro-budget feature "Ungirlfriendable", a narrative-driven film that chronicles the trials and tribulations of a melancholic comic strip creator who, following a fortuitous accident, acquires the uncanny ability to perceive the innermost thoughts of women. The film's production was characterized by an innovative approach, as it was shot entirely in front of a green screen, with meticulously crafted illustrated backgrounds subsequently added to achieve a 2D comic strip aesthetic.
Jeffry's captivating trilogy of black and white short films embarks on a thrilling adventure, as a domesticated Sasquatch and his endearingly incompetent companions find themselves entangled in a series of perilous encounters with otherworldly entities, including malevolent meteors, extraterrestrial beings, and malevolent demons.
