Jenna Hovland Baker's early affinity for screenwriting was evident from the outset. She pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film & Television at New York University, where she honed her craft alongside a rigorous academic schedule.
During her time at NYU, Jenna gained valuable industry experience by working in the literary development department at TriStar Pictures, as well as for renowned film producer Scott Rudin. This exposure not only deepened her understanding of the film industry but also provided her with a wealth of knowledge and connections that would serve her well in her future endeavors.
In the year 2000, Jenna made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, driven by her unwavering passion for a career in entertainment. She began her journey by serving as an assistant to a reality television producer, gradually working her way up the ranks to become a producer in her own right. This ascent was marked by a series of notable productions, including Temptation Island, Paradise Hotel, Race to the Altar, Married by America, and The Swan, Seasons 1 & 2.
As she continued to navigate the television landscape, Jenna found solace in the story editing aspect of her job, which allowed her to craft narratives in a manner reminiscent of scriptwriting. Her dedication and perseverance ultimately led her to write five feature-length screenplays, all of which fell within the romantic comedy genre.
In addition to her screenwriting endeavors, Jenna has also ventured into the realm of literature, publishing three comedic detective novels. Her creative pursuits, however, were eventually put on the backburner as she made the decision to relocate back to New York with her husband to start a family.
Today, Jenna serves as a Senior Director at an international meeting and events company, where she has discovered a newfound appreciation for the long plane flights and quiet hotel rooms that provide her with ample opportunities to indulge in her true love - writing.
