Jennifer Tao: A Multifaceted Talent Born in Shanghai, China on August 28th
Jennifer Tao's artistic journey began in her earliest years under the guidance of a master painter and calligrapher. She demonstrated exceptional talent and a broad interest in the art world, which would ultimately lead her to become a renowned actress, model, and producer in both China and the United States.
Tao's formal education in film and television performance began at the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1999, where she was mentored by the esteemed Mr. Zhang Ying Xiang. Her career took off shortly after, as she began modeling and appearing in advertisements from 1998 to 1999, accumulating an impressive 180 works during her college time.
In 1999, Tao made her film debut in the movie National Anthem, directed by Wu Zi Niu, where she played the role of Hu Die, a famous movie star from 1930s China. The same year, she appeared in the critically acclaimed film Voice of the Nation, which earned the Lu Ban Film Award in China and catapulted her to public recognition.
In 2002, Tao was nominated for two productions: the Hong Kong TV series Empress, Emperor down Jiangnan and the first air crash movie in China, Crash Landing, directed by Zhang Jian Ya. She was part of a talented ensemble cast, featuring a strong lineup of young and middle-aged actors.
Tao's subsequent roles in the Taiwanese TV series "Chinese Wives" garnered widespread attention for her performances. She acted as female number two "Ming Yue" in "I.True Love" (2003),the main role "Jin Ye" in "Loving My Husband and Sons" (2007),and the main role "Jiao Jiao" in "Remarry" (2009).
In 2013, Tao decided to pursue further education in the United States, enrolling in the History of Film Development course at Pasadena City College in Los Angeles. A year later, she established the Universal Films Corporation in the US.
Tao's breakthrough role came in 2018 when she played the role of Eve in River Runs Red, earning her the distinction of being the first Chinese actress to play a heroine in an American movie. This milestone marked the beginning of a new era in her career, solidifying her position as a talented and versatile artist in the film and drama world.
