Jere Shea is a Tony Award-nominated American actor and musician, whose extensive career has spanned both the stage and screen. He is perhaps best known for his starring role in the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon-produced Showtime series "City On A Hill" (2019),alongside Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge.
Shea's impressive film credits include "JUNGLELAND" (2019),where he appeared alongside Charlie Hunnam, Jack O'Connell, and Jessica Barden, as well as "Typhoid Mary" (NOVA/PBS),in which he played the role of Dr. George Soper.
In addition to his film work, Shea has had a successful career in television, with appearances on shows such as "Blue Bloods" (CBS),"Path to Paradise" (HBO),"Law & Order", "The Cosby Mysteries" (NBC),and "A Season in Purgatory" (CBS miniseries). He has also worked alongside notable actors such as Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno, James Naughton, Patrick Dempsey, and Brian Dennehy.
On stage, Shea has received a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Giorgio in the Broadway/world premiere of Stephen Sondheim's "Passion", opposite Donna Murphy and Marin Mazzie. He has also appeared in numerous other productions, including the New York Shakespeare Festival's "As You Like It" with Elizabeth McGovern and Michael Stuhlbarg, and the Broadway revivals of "Guys and Dolls" with Nathan Lane and Faith Prince, and "Damn Yankees" with Victor Garber and Bebe Neuwirth.
Shea has performed leading roles in theaters across the nation, including the Old Globe in San Diego, ACT in San Francisco, Manhattan Theater Club, Roundabout Stage Company, Williamstown Theater Festival, and the North Country Center for the Arts Papermill Playhouse in Lincoln, NH.
As a classically trained method actor, Shea has studied at some of the world's most prestigious institutions, including New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program (MFA),the Moscow Art Theatre School in the Soviet Union, and the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland.
In addition to his acting career, Shea is also an accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist, and has performed in a variety of venues, from small clubs to large concert halls. He can be heard on the Grammy Award-winning Original Broadway Cast recording of "Passion", produced by the renowned Phil Ramone.
