Jerome Ro Brooks, an award-winning American actor, was born and raised in West Baltimore. His grandmother and great aunt encouraged his early interest in performance, with the family putting on dance and musical routines for them.
As a young man, Ro began developing his musical talents, rapping and dancing at local talent shows. He co-founded the rap group Twice As Nice, which won first place at a local talent show and performed at the Apollo Theater.
Ro's acting career began with an extra role in the film "The Meteor Man," directed by Robert Townsend. He went on to work with acclaimed directors like Michael Bay, Fab 5 Freddy, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Mann, and Tyler Perry.
Ro is known for his dramatic role as Michael on Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots" and has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Kill Bill," "The Wire," "Sons of Anarchy," "Shameless," and "24."
In addition to his acting career, Ro is an entrepreneur, having opened his own music store and record label, "Rome Records," at the age of 22. He has also worked on music videos with artists like 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, and Snoop Dogg.
Ro has been recognized for his humanitarian work, including being honored with a street sign in his childhood neighborhood, "Jerome Ro Brooks Way." He has also been awarded the "Humanitarian Award of the Year" and the "Trail Blazer, Entertainer of the Year Award."
Ro has written his own book, "How To Go From Extra To Actor," and has joined the CDC's "Doing It" campaign to raise awareness about HIV. He is also a proud board member of Youth Gun Safety Inc., a non-profit organization.
Ro's latest projects include the multi-award-winning Middle Eastern Sci/Fi drama series "Medinah" and the thriller "The Caregiver," which is available on Tubi and other streaming platforms.
