Here is the person biography:
Jerry Paris was born William Gerald Paris on July 25, 1925, in San Francisco, California. His father was a Russian immigrant, and his mother, Esther Mohr, remarried when Jerry was a small child. He was eventually adopted by his stepfather, Milton Grossman, and took the name William Gerald Grossman during his childhood. He later reverted back to his birth name when he became an actor.
Jerry graduated from New York University and UCLA, and studied at the Actor's Studio after serving in the Navy during World War II. He began his career onstage, appearing in plays such as "The Front Page" and "Medea" on Broadway.
He transitioned to films in 1949, initially appearing in unbilled roles before progressing to more substantial parts in films like "Outrage", "The Wild One", "The Caine Mutiny", "Marty", "The Naked and the Dead", and "The Great Impostor".
Jerry's television career took off in the 1960s, where he found success as a regular character on "The Untouchables" and, most famously, as Jerry Helper, the next-door neighbor of Rob and Laura Petrie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show".
After his acting career, Jerry turned to directing, starting with an episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show". He went on to direct numerous episodes of the show, earning an Emmy award and a Directors Guild Award. He continued to work in television, directing episodes of "Happy Days", "The Odd Couple", and other popular sitcoms.
Jerry's directing career eventually led him back to film, where he helmed his last feature in 1986, "Police Academy 3: Back in Training". He died the same year at the age of 60 due to complications from brain cancer.
