Jerry Torre is a native New Yorker, specifically a Brooklyn Italian, who gained fame for his appearances in the Maysles brothers' documentaries Grey Gardens (1975) and The Beales of Grey Gardens (2006). During his time at Grey Gardens, he was affectionately nicknamed "The Marble Faun" by Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale, a moniker that would later be used to portray him in the Broadway musical adaptation.
Jerry has led a life filled with adventure and experiences, having traveled the world and worked with various notable individuals. In the 1970s, he collaborated with Waly and Flowers, as well as their puppet "Madame", during their cabaret acts. He also worked for the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia, and later spent twenty years driving a taxi cab in New York City.
Now, Jerry pursues his lifelong passion for sculpting, spending most of his time carving stone at the Art Students League of New York. He is the subject of a new film project, "The Marble Faun Of Grey Gardens", being produced by Aggregate Pictures' Jason Hay and Steve Pelizza. Jerry shares his life with his long-time partner, Ted O'ryan Sheppard, a prominent figure in the fashion world.
