Jesper Christensen, a renowned Danish actor, was born in 1948 in the heart of Copenhagen, a city that has been his home ever since. For 25 years, he dedicated himself to the world of theatre, taking on iconic roles such as Alceste in Misanthropist, Richard in Richard III, Faust in Faust, and Astrov in Vanja. His performances as worried men left a lasting impression on audiences.
However, in 1998, Christensen decided to shift his focus from theatre to film, where he has since appeared in over 100 movies directed by acclaimed filmmakers such as Per Fly, Marc Forster, John Madden, Lone Scherfig, Sydney Pollack, Jan Troell, Martin Campbell, Anette K Olesen, Pernille Fischer Christensen, Sam Mendes, Erik Poppe, Joachim Trier, and Lars von Trier, among others.
In his personal life, Christensen has been in a long-term relationship with Tove Bornhoeft, a talented Danish theatre manager, director, and actress, since 2000. Together, they have two grown daughters. Unlike many, Christensen is an animal lover, but he has outgrown his fondness for pets, having previously owned dogs, pigs, chickens, cats, birds, horses, fish, and rabbits.
