In 1994, he began studying film production at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York, where he honed his craft until 1996. However, a nervous breakdown led to his abrupt departure, and he made the unconventional decision to move in with a psychotic Yale girl.
Undeterred, he continued to create short films with punk and juvenile delinquent themes between 1996 and 1998. Unfortunately, most of these films were destroyed in a plumbing mishap, prompting him to embark on a road trip to Memphis.
In 1997, he began working with Matthew Martin VI, directing productions for the New Haven Theatre Company, including Hamlet and Look Back in Anger. However, his artistic endeavors were temporarily interrupted in 1999 when he was arrested for reckless burning, destruction of property, and disorderly conduct. Charges were eventually dropped, and he turned his attention to painting.
The summer of 2001 marked the beginning of his affiliation with the London-based art movement Stuckism, and he first showcased his work with them. In 2002, he co-founded the Stuckism International Center-USA and helped organize various art shows, including the anti-war exhibition, The War On Bush.
The years 2003 and 2004 proved to be creatively prolific for him. His film, Shooting at the Moon (2003),a punk/juvenile delinquent love story co-directed with Nic Watson, premiered at the NY International Independent Film and Video Festival in November 2003. He also exhibited his paintings in the Stuckists' first major national gallery art exhibition at the Walker in Liverpool in 2004, titled Stuckists Punk Victorian.
In 2004, he co-founded Remodernist Film and Photography, a collective that includes notable artists such as Amos Poe, Harris Smith, Matthew Martin VI, and Nicholas Watson.
