Jessica Koloian was born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan, where she was exposed to a rich cultural heritage of Armenian, German, and Austrian descent. From a young age, she began performing by memorizing Bible verses and inspirational monologues, impressing her church congregation and Sunday school classes with her impressive recitation skills.
As she grew older, Koloian found herself torn between the career paths of her favorite strong female characters from film and television. However, it wasn't until her freshman year of high school that she discovered the world of acting as a viable career option, and it was then that she knew she would dedicate herself to the craft.
Koloian's high school years were marked by her starring role as Millie in the production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie," a performance that solidified her decision to pursue a degree in theatre. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, she landed a lead role in the 2017 film "Courageous Love," a project that marked the beginning of her professional acting career.
While working on another film, Koloian met director George A. Johnson, with whom she would go on to collaborate on several projects. Johnson requested comedic monologues from Koloian, and shortly thereafter, he sent her sides to audition for a comedy he had written. Impressed by her submission, Johnson asked her to consider a role in another film he had written, and Koloian was soon cast as the lead, Amber, in the 2018 film "Thy Neighbor."
Koloian has continued to work with Johnson, and will star in his upcoming feature film "Pulled from Darkness" in 2021.
