Jim Capobianco, a renowned filmmaker, received a 2008 Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for his work on Ratatouille. He went on to write and direct the short film "Your Friend The Rat," which was featured on the Ratatouille DVD and won the 2008 ASIFA-Hollywood Annie Award for short films.
Following the success of "Your Friend The Rat," Jim directed the critically acclaimed end titles for Pixar's 2008 release Wall.E. His impressive resume includes a stint at the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a degree.
Jim started his career in the story department at Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he worked on The Lion King. After five years at Disney, he relocated to Pixar Animation Studios, where he played a significant role in shaping the stories of many of Pixar's films, including A Bug's Life and Coco.
In 2009, Jim completed his first independent film, Leonardo, which is now part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. He also founded Aerial Contrivance Workshop, a story design studio, where he created and directed the 2D animation sequence for Walt Disney Motion Pictures' Mary Poppins Returns, earning his second Annie Award.
Jim's work has also included directing the animated concert film Philharmonia Fantastique, which is similar to Fantasia, and collaborating with Mason Bates and Gary Rydstorm. His most recent project is his first feature film, The Inventor, and he is currently working on writing and developing numerous scripts and books for children.
In addition, Jim is set to write and direct a new concert film, once again collaborating with Mason Bates and Gary Rydstorm. Throughout his career, Jim has demonstrated his versatility and creativity as a filmmaker, and his work continues to inspire audiences of all ages.
