Jiřina Bohdalová is a renowned Czech actress who embarked on her acting journey at a remarkably young age. Despite facing rejection twice, she was eventually accepted into The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, also known as DAMU, on her third attempt. Subsequently, she received an offer from the illustrious Jan Werich to join his actor's troupe at the esteemed "Divadlo ABC".
Since 1967, Bohdalová has been in a permanent engagement at the prestigious "Vinohrady Theatre", where she has consistently showcased her remarkable talent. Moreover, she has made a significant impact in the world of voice acting, particularly in various children's stories, bringing beloved characters to life. Her extensive portfolio includes numerous appearances in fairy-tales, short stories, TV films, serials, plays, and various programs of her own.
Bohdalová's outstanding performances have earned her two prestigious Czech Lion awards for her roles in "Nesmrtelná teta" and "Fany". Furthermore, she is the proud mother of the talented actress Simona Stašová.
However, Bohdalová's remarkable career was also marked by a notable challenge. The now-defunct Czech state secret police, StB, attempted to coerce her into becoming an informant, but she courageously resisted their efforts. When a register of StB collaborators was published, including her name, she successfully rectified the error, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her principles.
