Jody Wilson-Raybould is a renowned Canadian lawyer and former politician, born on March 23, 1971. She is also recognized by her initials JWR and her Kwak'wala name, Puglaas. Wilson-Raybould's illustrious career in politics began in 2015 when she was elected as the member of Parliament (MP) for the British Columbia (BC) riding of Vancouver Granville.
Initially, she served as a member of the Liberal Party, holding various cabinet positions, including justice minister and attorney general from 2015 to 2019. During this time, she also briefly held the roles of veterans minister and associate national defence minister in 2019.
However, her tenure in the Liberal Party came to an abrupt end in 2019, when she was expelled from caucus amid the SNC-Lavalin affair. Despite this, Wilson-Raybould chose to continue sitting in Parliament as an Independent and was reelected in the 2019 federal election.
Despite her success, she decided not to run in the 2021 federal election. Prior to entering federal politics, Wilson-Raybould had a distinguished career in the BC provincial justice system, serving as a Crown prosecutor, treaty commissioner, and regional chief of the BC Assembly of First Nations.
