Biography

Joe Miale, a native New Yorker, had a transformative experience at the tender age of 10, when he spotted a UFO that would forever alter the trajectory of his life. Following his passion for filmmaking, Joe pursued a degree in film at New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.

After completing his studies, Joe began his professional journey by directing television commercials for esteemed brands such as Macy's and Bloomingdale's. His creative prowess soon caught the attention of DoSomething.org, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young people and driving social change. Joe was entrusted with crafting a Telly Award-winning public service announcement (PSA) campaign, featuring an impressive roster of celebrity talent, including Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Usher, Kristen Bell, Jordan Sparks, Hayden Christensen, Justin Long, and many more.

This groundbreaking campaign, now in its seventh year, has garnered hundreds of millions of media impressions, cementing Joe's reputation as a visionary and innovative storyteller. His work has also extended to Participant Media, where he wrote, directed, and edited PSA campaigns for the Oscar-nominated documentary Food, Inc. and Brett Morgen's critically acclaimed documentary Chicago 10, boasting an all-star cast that includes Martin Sheen, Natalie Portman, Julia-Louis Dreyfus, Raven Symone, Adam Goldberg, Eric Balfour, and more. Joe's impressive portfolio has earned him seven Telly Awards, including three for his Gatorade spec, Keeps You Going.

In the realm of television, Joe has honed his skills as an editor, working on reality shows for SpikeTV and SyFy, including Who Wants To Be a SuperHero? He also served as Co-Executive Producer on World's Wildest Vacation Videos for truTV. Joe's feature film credits include co-producing and editing two films: TKO, featuring Dianna Agron from Glee, and Don't Fade Away, starring Ryan Kwanten from True Blood.

Joe's innovative spirit and creative vision have led him to develop original content, including his VFX-heavy sci-fi short, Decibel, which caught the attention of Machinima. He recently sold his original series, GameWorld, to Machinima and has written and directed the pilot episode, slated to premiere on Machinima Prime later this year. Additionally, Machinima has commissioned Joe to write and direct live-action short films for two blockbuster video games, Half-Life and Assassin's Creed.

A Los Angeles resident, Joe continues to chase his passion for filmmaking, while still keeping an eye out for those elusive UFOs that sparked his creative journey all those years ago.
