Johannes Meyer, a striking individual with a commanding presence, was born in the year 1884. Following his graduation from the esteemed Gymnasium, Meyer embarked on a journey to secure a spot at the prestigious Royal Theatre School, only to be twice rejected. Undeterred, he made his stage debut at the Dagmarteatret in Copenhagen in 1905 and went on to perform at nearly every theatre in the city.
As his career flourished, Meyer began to make a name for himself in the world of cinema. He appeared in over 100 films, starting with his first role as Erneste des Tressailles in Viggo Larsen's 'Revolutionsbryllup' at the Nordist Film Co in 1909. One of his most memorable roles was as Viktor Frandsen in Carl Theodor Dreyer's 'Master of the House' at the Palladium Film Co in 1925.
Throughout his extensive career, Meyer mostly took on character or supporting roles in numerous talkies from 1933 until his last film appearance, playing the role of Bilvis in Gabriel Axel's 'Hagbard and Signe' in 1967. In addition to his work in film, Meyer was also active on radio and television, taking part in various dramas and serving as the stage director of the Fonixteatret and Norrebros Theatre.
Before being hired by the esteemed Royal Theatre in 1941, Meyer had already established himself as a talented performer. He spent the latter part of his life at the Royal Theatre, leaving behind a legacy that continued to inspire and entertain audiences for generations to come. Johannes Meyer passed away in Denmark in the year 1972, at the age of 88, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a lasting impact on the world of entertainment.
