John Mastando was born on October 4th in the vibrant city of New York, specifically in the iconic metropolis, where he was the second child of Benignia and Alexander Mastando. Growing up on Long Island's picturesque Suffolk County, John was surrounded by the tranquility of the suburban landscape, where his father, an electrical technition, and his mother, a self-employed electrologist, worked diligently to provide for their family.
As a young boy, John had a deep passion for baseball, with a dream to one day play professionally for the esteemed New York Yankees. However, fate had other plans. While working as a bartender, John caught the attention of a discerning casting director, who was scouting for a film directed by the renowned Franco Zeffirelli. Although John did not land the role he had auditioned for, he left a lasting impression on Zeffirelli, who later introduced him to his own agent at I.C.M.
Inspired by this unexpected turn of events, John decided to pursue a career in acting full-time, and soon found himself relocating to the City of Angels, Los Angeles. There, he began honing his craft under the guidance of his friend and fellow actor, Robert Forster. John's talent and dedication did not go unnoticed, as he was soon cast in a small but significant role by the acclaimed director Howard Fuer and actor/director Tom Hanks in the 1996 film, That Thing You Do!
