Biography

John Milton Branton is a multi-talented individual, boasting an impressive array of skills in the film industry. As a director, screenwriter, producer, and former Head of Production for Benetone Films-Thailand, he has made a name for himself in the world of cinema.

One of his most notable works is the political thriller "Dark Power", a psychological thriller "Absolute Fear", which he also wrote and co-produced, and the multi-award-winning period drama "Tears of a Lotus". His versatility as a director is evident in his work on the features "Abduction", "Surrounded", "Zombie Tidal Wave", "Pound of Flesh", "Pernicious", and "Special Ops", as well as the 26 episodes of "The New Addams Family Series" for Fox.

Branton's crowning achievement is the production, writing, and direction of "Tears of a Lotus", which has won numerous accolades, including Best Film and Best Director awards. The film has been invited to over 30 international film festivals, including Toronto, Montreal, Palm Springs, Quebec, Bilbao, Santa Barbara, Tunis, and St. Petersburg, Russia, and has aired on television in Canada, the US, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Argentina, and Russia, among others.

In addition to his work in film, Branton has also co-produced the award-winning "Stealing Roses", which won Best of Fest and Best Actor Awards for John Heard and Cindy Williams at the LA Comedy Festival. His short films and screenplays have been selected by over 50 international film festivals and have won numerous awards, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Director.

Before embarking on a career in film, Branton began as an actor in Toronto, appearing in over 50 plays, television programs, and feature films. He is a produced playwright and was the Artistic Director of three Equity theatre companies. Plays he directed received 17 Sterling Award nominations, winning seven, including Best New Play and Best New Musical.

Branton holds an MFA from York University in Toronto and is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School. He has also had the opportunity to study screenwriting with renowned experts Robert McKee and Alan Watt.

After many years of living and working in SE Asia, Branton currently resides in Vancouver, where he continues to work in the film industry, leaving a lasting impact on the world of cinema.
