John-Paul Nickel is an internationally acclaimed writer, actor, and filmmaker, boasting an impressive array of accolades and achievements across multiple mediums.
In the realm of television, Nickel shared an Emmy nomination in 2020 as part of the writing staff for Amazon's Just Add Magic, and has been a two-time honoree of the WGA Diversity Program's TV Writer Access Project in 2016 and 2019, as well as a WGA Award Nominee in 2017.
As a playwright, Nickel has won the prestigious Kennedy Center's Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting award for his outstanding play written on the theme of living with a disability in 2009, and has received a fellowship at the esteemed Eugene O'Neill Playwright's Conference in the same year.
