Robert Michael Geisler and John Roberdeau, a collaborative duo since 1979, co-produced Terrence Malick's critically acclaimed film "The Thin Red Line", which garnered seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, in 1999. Geisler and Roberdeau's upcoming projects include the adaptations of D. M. Thomas's "The White Hotel", David Rabe's "In the Boom Boom Room", Andrew Birkin's "Letting Go", Ron Hansen's "Desperadoes", and James Jones's "Whistle", a continuation of "From Here to Eternity" and "The Thin Red Line". Additionally, they are producing two original projects written by Terrence Malick, "The English-Speaker" and a stage adaptation of Kenji Mizoguchi's "Sansho the Bailiff".
Prior to these endeavors, Geisler and Roberdeau produced notable films such as Robert Altman's "Streamers" (1983),which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for its ensemble cast, and "Strange Interlude" (1985) on Broadway, starring Glenda Jackson, which received six Tony Award nominations. They also collaborated on writer Dennis Potter's directorial debut, "Secret Friends" (1992),starring Alan Bates.
Geisler and Roberdeau were prominent figures in the artistic community, with Geisler serving on the Board of Directors of Marianne Weems's experimental theater company, The Builders Association, and both being establishing members of Robert Wilson's Foundation Watermill, Inc.
Sadly, John Roberdeau passed away unexpectedly at the age of forty-eight in May 2002.
