John Ruby's biography begins with his birth in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Gay and Jake Ruby. He spent his childhood in Pewaukee, where he developed a passion for theater and singing at a young age. Initially, John's performances were limited to children's birthday parties, where he showcased his juggling and magic skills.
As he grew older, John decided to take a break from performing to focus on his academics and sports. After completing high school, he pursued higher education at Northwestern University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. During his junior year, John took a unique opportunity to study in Munich, Germany, where he discovered a newfound love for languages and words.
Upon graduating from NU, John packed his car and set off on a journey to Hollywood, driven by his aspirations to become a professional actor. His first major acting gig was on the popular soap opera 'Passions.' Since then, John has appeared in numerous TV shows, including 'For All Mankind,' 'Penny Dreadful,' 'SWAT,' 'Speechless,' '2 Broke Girls,' and 'CSI.' His film credits include 'Solver,' 'Touch,' and 'The Case of Jonas Booker.'
On stage, John has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of productions, including 'Fool for Love,' 'Heaven Can Wait,' 'The Sting,' and 'The Maiden's Prayer.' He has also honed his improv skills at IO West, where he was a member of the Harold team "Liquor, Guns and Ammo."
In addition to his acting career, John has taught on-camera acting classes for many years. Drawing on his extensive experience in both acting and casting, John helps his students bring out their authentic selves in front of the camera and book work.
When John is not busy with his acting or teaching endeavors, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and son. He is an avid traveler, having visited destinations such as Iceland, Finland, and Costa Rica. John is also passionate about playing basketball, advocating for protected bike lanes and electric cars, and reading about a wide range of topics.
