Johnny Seven, a renowned American character actor, was born John Anthony Fetto in the Italian section of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, to Marie and John Fetto. He was the sole male sibling among six children, including sisters Lillian, Terry, Connie, Dolores, and Jean.
Before embarking on a career playing tough gangsters and criminals, Seven surprisingly began as a boy soprano until the age of 14. His military service with the 187th Field Artillery Battalion in the US Army lasted 2-1/2 years, during which he developed a passion for acting after appearing in several USO shows.
On October 8, 1949, Seven married Edith Piselli, with whom he had two children, John Jr. and Laura. He began his acting career in the New York theater community and later transitioned to live television, eventually being brought to Hollywood in 1958 by Universal Pictures to work in their numerous television series.
Throughout his illustrious career, Seven has appeared in over 600 TV shows, more than 25 films, and various Broadway and off-Broadway productions. Additionally, he has ventured into writing and directing for the stage, television, and movies. His first play, "Salvage", was written in 1958, and he has since produced, directed, and starred in a 1964 western, Navajo Run (1964),as well as directed several TV shows and shorts.
In his free time, Seven enjoys a range of hobbies, including gardening, golf, and various forms of fishing, with a special fondness for fly fishing.
