Biography

Jon Springer embarked on a career in commercial cinematography and direction in Minneapolis during the mid-1990s.

He honed his skills by working on independent film projects without compensation in the Twin Cities area,

gaining valuable experience and insight into the craft of movie cinematography.

Following the production of several short films, Springer wrote, produced, and directed his inaugural feature film,

The Hymens Parable, which premiered in the year 2000.

In 2005, Springer successfully persuaded Mark Borchardt,

the iconic figure from the 1999 film American Movie,

to appear in his short film Living Dead Girl,

which received critical acclaim and festival exposure.

The director then went on to cast Borchardt in the low-budget horror feature The Hagstone Demon,

released in 2011, which garnered critical praise and festival awards.

The Hagstone Demon was showcased as a double feature with American Movie at the Boston Museum of Fine Art,

and subsequently developed a minor cult following.
