Jonah Jones, born Robert Elliott Jones on December 31, 1909, was a renowned jazz trumpeter who successfully adapted jazz and swing standards to appeal to a broad audience. In the jazz community, he is particularly recognized for his collaborations with the accomplished violinist Stuff Smith. Jones was often affectionately referred to as "King Louis II", a nod to the legendary Louis Armstrong.
Jonah Jones' musical journey began at the tender age of 12, when he started playing the alto saxophone in the Booker T. Washington Community Center band in Louisville, Kentucky. However, he soon discovered his true calling on the trumpet, exceling in this instrument and dedicating himself to its mastery.
