Josean Rivera Vaquer, a Puerto Rican native, was born in San Juan and began his academic journey at Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola, where he was mentored by the renowned Father Francis Golden, a renowned thespian. This early guidance and exposure to the world of theatre laid the foundation for his future endeavors.
Rivera's academic pursuits continued as he attended the summer intensive Theatreworks program at the University of Iowa, where he received a full scholarship. Upon high school graduation, he pursued his passion for theatre and journalism at Indiana University.
After completing his studies at Indiana University, Rivera returned to Puerto Rico to attend Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, where he concentrated in film and television production. He graduated Magna Cum Laude, a testament to his academic prowess.
To further hone his craft, Rivera continued his acting studies in New York City, studying the Meisner Technique under James Price, a protégé of the legendary Sanford Meisner. He also received training in acting technique and scene study under the guidance of Zenon Kruszelnicki, one of Poland's finest acting teachers. Additionally, he received voice training from Debra Hale and Mary Workman, as well as singing lessons from Ana Marta Arraiza.
During his time in New York, Rivera worked as a comedy writer for Cory Kahaney, the first runner-up on Last Comic Standing. This experience further developed his creative skills and expanded his network in the entertainment industry.
Currently, Rivera serves as the Chief Creative Officer of The Barefoot Film Company, a film production company based in Puerto Rico. He has executive produced, co-written, and acted in the feature film "Elite." His acting career has also seen him land roles in two more feature films, "The Witness" directed by Andrés Ramírez and "Mi Verano Con Amanda 2" directed by Benji Lopez, both of which are expected to hit Puerto Rican theaters early fall 2011.
In addition to his acting endeavors, Rivera is actively involved in writing, currently working on three feature comedies. He has also signed on to act in all of them, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft.
