Joseph M. Monks, a visionary individual, embarked on an extraordinary journey in 2002, following a profound setback in which he lost total eyesight, yet this adversity only fueled his creative spirit. Undeterred, he set his sights on a new literary endeavor, penning a novel, crafting multiple screenplays, and even taking on the ambitious task of directing a feature-length film.
As a seasoned veteran in the independent comic book scene, Monks had already built a devoted following, having co-created the cult classic Cry for Dawn. His impressive body of work also included the writing and publication of numerous comic books, such as The Night Terrors, a collaboration with renowned artists Bernie Wrightson and William S. Stout, as well as NightCry, Tales of the Dead, and several standalone one-shots.
