Josephine's life story began with her birth into a naval family, where her father held the esteemed rank of Commander. She spent her formative years attending the prestigious Royal Naval School in England.
As a teenager, Josephine discovered her passion for acting, which eventually led her to pursue a career in the performing arts upon leaving school. In 1948, she married French actor Gerard Guillaumat, and the couple welcomed a daughter, Anna, in 1949. However, their marriage was not without its challenges, and the couple divorced in 1957 when Gerard returned to France to further his own acting career.
Josephine's journey continued when she met and married theatre director John Ridley in 1966. Together, they formed a dynamic duo, both acting and directing in various productions until they ultimately left the theatre in 1975. Following their departure from the stage, John Ridley embarked on a new project, renovating a 16th-century water mill in Blair Atholl, Scotland, which the couple operated for several years until John's untimely passing.
After John's death, Josephine relocated to Canada to be reunited with her daughter Anna and grandchildren, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Throughout her life, Josephine was known for her generosity, kindness, and wonderful nature, as well as her deep spiritual insights and courageous performances as an actress. She is deeply missed by her loved ones.
