Julia Brown is a talented Scottish-Irish actor, born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. At the tender age of 16, she began her career in the BBC's popular spy drama "MI High". After completing a short stint at drama school, Julia returned to the BBC to star in the crime-drama series "Shetland".
In 2019, Julia landed the lead role of Lois Bennett in the BBC/PBS historical drama "World On Fire". Her character, Lois, discovers a wartime role that showcases her remarkable singing talent. Julia herself is a gifted vocalist and sang many of the soundtrack tracks that accompany the episodes. Due to the pandemic, filming was paused, but Julia reprised her role in 2022. The show was released globally in 2023.
In 2024, Julia will star in the psychological thriller horror film "Daddy's Head", directed by Benjamin Barfoot. The film is produced by Mathew James Wilkinson (Yesterday) and Patrick Tolan (T.I.M) for Stigma Films, with AMP distributing.
Julia has also joined the cast of World Production's "Karen Pirie" in 2024, with the second series set to be released in 2025. In addition to her film and television work, Julia has performed a range of roles in prominent TV series. Recently, she appeared in Jed Mercurio's crime-drama "Payback" and made a return as a recurring character in the sixth season of the critically acclaimed mystery crime drama "Shetland". Julia also starred alongside Toheeb Jimoh in "Anthony", a drama that explores the life Anthony Walker could have lived. In the same year, she played the role of Ecgywn, future Queen consort of Wessex, in Netflix's popular historical drama "The Last Kingdom", reprising her role from series 3. Julia was also seen in Netflix's "The Alienist" sequel: "The Angel Of Darkness".
