Julia Verdin is a multifaceted veteran filmmaker with a career spanning over three decades. As a producer, director, and screenwriter, she has established herself as one of Hollywood's leading independent producers, with a portfolio of over 36 critically acclaimed feature films.
Throughout her career, Julia has produced a wide range of films, including 2 Jacks, Stander, The Merchant of Venice, Riding The Bullet, and The Least Among You. Her faith-based film, The Least Among You, was released by Lionsgate and received two N.A.A.C.P award nominations.
Julia's films have been selected for numerous major film festivals, including Sundance, Toronto, Venice, AFI, Raindance, Vancouver International, and London. As a director, her background in acting has given her the tools to support her actors and bring out amazing performances, while her producing background enables her to stay on budget while achieving creative results.
Her directorial debut, Lost Girls, won several awards, including Best Social Impact film at The Culver City Film festival. The film has also been broadcast as part of an educational program on sex trafficking of minors and has been screened by organizations and communities.
Julia's first feature film, Angie: Lost Girls, was a limited theatrical release in December 2020 and was distributed by Freestyle in the U.S. and Jinga Films worldwide. Her second feature, MAYA, is currently in post-production and explores the issue of young, vulnerable teens being lured by traffickers online.
Julia has also directed several short films, including a promo for GIFT (Global initiative fighting Trafficking) and two short films, Brown and The Inheritance, in partnership with non-profit Kids in The Spotlight. Brown screened at Paramount Studios in November 2019 and screened at several film festivals, while The Inheritance premiered at the Orpheum Theater in November 2021.
In addition to her film work, Julia founded and serves on the board of directors of Artists For Change, a 501c non-profit with a mission of raising awareness on key social issues through film and media.
