Julie's journey began on a farm in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, where she spent her summers fishing, swimming, and exploring the countryside. After attending the University of South Carolina, she relocated to New York City, where she honed her acting skills at HB Studios. To shed her southern accent, she took diction classes, modeled, and acted in commercials and music videos. Julie also delved into theater, performing with an improvisation comedy troupe in the city.
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Julie continued to act while studying with The Groundlings, Candy Herman, and Harry Mastrogeorge. She joined The LA Film Studio, where she was immersed in all aspects of filmmaking, taking on various roles behind and in front of the camera. As she navigated this creative environment, Julie discovered a newfound passion for being behind the camera.
Following this experience, Julie co-directed, co-starred, and filmed the comedic doc/feature "Cannes Without A Plan". The film chronicles the adventures of three divorcees fleeing mundane life for a romp in the South of France, shot impromptu with Julie's handheld camera.
After taking a hiatus to focus on her two children, Julie is now back to creating, penning a TV pilot, two features, and a makeover show alongside her writing partner at Calamity J. Prods. Julie has also resumed acting, effortlessly transitioning between serious and comedic roles. She believes that being involved in multiple creative aspects of the industry is the key to remaining a part of the ever-changing business.
