Jun Gallardo, a renowned Filipino B-movie director, embarked on his career in the 1970s, specializing in martial arts films, and later transitioned to Z-movie actioners in the 1980s, frequently collaborating with K.Y. Lim's Silver Star Film Company.
As a prolific director, Gallardo worked with a variety of actors, including Richard Harrison in Intrusion: Cambodia (1983) and Rescue Team (1983),alongside a cast of Silver Star regulars such as Romano Kristoff, Jim Gaines, Mike Monty, Mike Cohen, and Ronnie Patterson.
Teddy Page, another prominent Silver Star director, served as the assistant director for Intrusion: Cambodia. Gallardo directed Kristoff and Monty again in Slash (1984),a film heavily influenced by the Rambo series starring Sylvester Stallone, and featuring Nick Nicholson and Gwendolyn Hung.
Another notable film in Gallardo's repertoire is Commando Invasion (1986),which boasted a star-studded cast, including Gordon Mitchell, Ken Watanabe, and former model Tetchie Agbayani (as Carol Roberts, also appearing in Intrusion Cambodia).
Gallardo also directed Christopher Mitchum twice, in Master Samurai (1974) and SFX Retaliator (1987),the latter also starring Linda Blair and Gordon Mitchell.
The Firing Line (1988),a shoddily made actioner starring Reb Brown and Shannon Tweed, and featuring a small role from Monty, appears to be Gallardo's final directorial work, with the director seemingly retired from the film industry.
