Karan Ashley has enjoyed a career spanning over two decades. Born in Odessa, Texas, and raised in Dallas, Texas, she began her entertainment career as a child singer in the girl group KRUSH. Signed to Perspective, A&M Records, the group had their first single, "Let's Get Together," featured on the Mo Money soundtrack. Under the guidance of world-renowned producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, KRUSH earned a platinum record and had a hit dance song, "Let's Get Together (So Groovy Now)," collaborating with notable artists such as Janet Jackson, Johnny Gill, Karen White, Lo-Key, and Mint Condition.
After five years with KRUSH, Karan decided to pursue an acting career. She landed several national commercials for companies like Southwest Airlines, TGI Fridays, Chevrolet, and AT&T.
Her breakthrough role came when she auditioned for the role of Aisha, the Yellow Power Ranger, on the popular children's show Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. She performed in over 80 episodes and starred in the hit film "Power Rangers the Movie," released by 20th Century Fox.
Karan continued to work tirelessly, appearing in numerous TV shows and films, including Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, The Steve Harvey Show, One on One, The Parkers, Kenan & Kel, Chat Room, The Opposite Sex, Taylor's Wall, Wicked Weekend, Jazz Scene, The Encounter, and many more. She has collaborated with prominent companies such as MTV, BET, ABC, Nickelodeon, Disney, The WB, 20th Century Fox, Asiatic Productions, and formed the production company GAG Order Films.
Although acting remains her passion, Karan ventured into producing, writing, and starring in two feature films, Unto Thee and Devon's Ghost, through GAG Order Films. In both films, she played the lead actress, writer, and producer. The films were well-received in film festivals and sold in over 17 countries through DVD sales. She worked as a producer for BET and created exclusive content for their BET on Jazz channel.
Recently, Karan branched out on her own to form her production company, KASH Pictures and Entertainment. She produced two television pilots, A Day in the Life, a reality-based talk show co-hosted by Karan and Kel Mitchell, and Turning Point, which she submitted to the OWN network and received over 14,000 votes in one week.
Throughout her career, Karan has worn many hats, but she still strives to take her career to new heights, studying at BANG Improv. As an actress, she never wants to stop honing her craft. Karan also makes personal appearances at conventions, where she meets thousands of fans who still admire her from her Power Rangers days. She remains grateful for the original audience that supported her and considers herself a beginner in the industry, excited about the possibilities ahead.
