Karla Cheatham Mosley, a talented individual, was born and raised in the affluent county of Westchester, New York. Her academic pursuits led her to graduate from the prestigious New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with honors. Furthermore, she took advantage of the opportunity to study in France at the renowned Roy Hart Vocal Institute.
As a child, Mosley began her career in the entertainment industry by performing with Sugar Beats, a children's rock group. Her early start in the industry laid the foundation for her future success. In 2003, while still a student, she joined the American adaptation of the Australian children's television show Hi-5, becoming the youngest member of the group.
After leaving Hi-5 in 2006, Mosley explored her passion for stage performances, appearing in various theatre plays and musicals, including the iconic "Dreamgirls" across the United States and off-Broadway in New York City. She also secured minor roles in television and film, which ultimately led to her first series regular part on the long-running soap opera Guiding Light, where she played Christina Moore Boudreau from 2008 to 2009.
Following Guiding Light's cancellation, Mosley co-created and starred in the web series "Wed Locked" alongside her co-star Lawrence Saint-Victor. This collaboration was not their last, as they joined the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful in 2013. Initially, they played lovers, and even created a limited-run web series called "Room 8," which they wrote and starred in.
Mosley's character, Maya Avant, quickly gained prominence on The Bold and the Beautiful, initially through a romance with Jacob Young's Rick Forrester. However, her character's highly publicized twist, revealing her to be transgender, catapulted her to front-page status. Simultaneously, Mosley held a recurring role on the prime-time television series Hart of Dixie from 2013 to 2015.
In her personal life, Mosley has been married to lawyer and civil rights advocate Jeremiah Frei-Pearson since 2011. She is an active philanthropist, serving on the board of Covenant House, a privately funded agency providing shelter and services to homeless, runaway, and throwaway youth. Mosley is also a celebrity ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association and actively involved in various charitable endeavors.
