Biography

Carolina Giraldo Navarro, professionally known as Karol G, is a Colombian reggaeton singer and songwriter born on February 14, 1991. She has achieved significant success with her songs "Ahora Me Llama", "Mi Cama", and "Culpables", which have all reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. Her accomplishments have earned her a Latin Grammy Award.

Growing up, Karol G participated in the talent show The X Factor and furthered her education at Calasanz in Medellín. She studied music at the University of Antioquia before moving to New York to pursue a career in music. In 2006, she adopted the stage name Karol G.

In 2013, Karol G collaborated with Nicky Jam and released the popular song "Amor De Dos", which gained over 100 million views on YouTube. The following year, she collaborated with Andy Rivera and released "Mañana", which now has over 90 million views on YouTube. She also released "Ricos Besos" but it did not achieve the same level of success.

In 2015, Karol G released her own adaptation of the song "Mil Horas" by Los Abuelos de la Nada, titled "Ya No Te Creo", which had moderate success in Colombia. She later collaborated with De La Ghetto on the song "Te Lo Quiero Hacer". In March 2016, she released "Casi Nada", and in April of the same year, she released "Muñeco De Lego".

In 2017, Karol G's collaborative single with Bad Bunny, "Ahora Me Llama", was released and quickly gained over 660 million views on YouTube. She also released "A Ella", which became popular in Colombia, and collaborated with Kevin Roldán on "Eres mi Todo". Additionally, she joined the talent show Pequeños Gigantes USA as a team captain and judge alongside Prince Royce, Luis Coronel, and Bianca Marroquín.

Karol G has spoken about the importance of giving women more space in urban music, stating that the genre has evolved and now offers a good opportunity for female artists. She appeared as an opening act at the 2017 Premios Juventud awards.
