Karrie was born in McAllen, Texas to South Texas ranchers, where she began her journey with horses at the tender age of two. By the time she was just three years old, she was already competing in rodeos, a passion she would continue to pursue for over a decade.
As she grew older, Karrie's athletic prowess led her to be recruited to play collegiate volleyball. Her academic pursuits were just as impressive, as she went on to graduate with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, having been pre-med.
Karrie's foray into the world of film began with a series of independent movies, including Out of the Darkness, Boneboys, Depression Revolution, and Red on Yella, Kill a Fella.
In 2008, she co-founded Through Films, an independent film production company, with her partner Marcus Cox. The company's mission is to create meaningful motion pictures that captivate, influence, and entertain, and serves as a platform for Karrie's acting and writing talents.
In 2009, Karrie wrote, directed, and produced her first film, Los Encinos. Her subsequent projects include producing Ross Katz's dramedy Adult Beginners, starring Rose Byrne, Nick Kroll, and Bobby Cannavale, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She also produced Sean Baker's critically acclaimed film Tangerine, and is currently working on Justin Tipping's feature Kicks.
Today, Karrie divides her time between Los Angeles and Austin, where she continues to act, write, and produce films, staying true to her passion for storytelling and her commitment to creating high-quality, impactful cinema.
