Her parents, from working-class Dominican backgrounds, instilled in her a strong sense of identity and community. As a result, Kase is fluent in Spanish and speaks intermediate Portuguese, reflecting her rich cultural heritage.
As a trailblazing figure, Kase made history by becoming the first Trans Latinx Woman to join the Writers Guild of America (WGA). This remarkable achievement is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and passion for storytelling.
Kase's impressive credentials include being a filmmaking Fellow of the inaugural Film Accelerator Program by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She is also a One-Fifty/Warner Media Writing/Directing Fellow, as well as a LALIFF/Netflix Directing Inclusion Fellow. These prestigious fellowships demonstrate her commitment to her craft and her desire to push boundaries and challenge the status quo.
Kase's most notable project to date is the independent feature film TRANS LOS ANGELES, an anthology of three shorts that explore different Trans experiences. Although still in production, the film received significant recognition, being shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay by Variety Senior Awards Editor Clayton Davis in late 2023. The film boasts an impressive team, with Emmy-award winning actor Billy Porter and Sydney Freeland serving as Executive Producers.
In addition to her feature film work, Kase has also directed the critically acclaimed docuseries VISIONS OF US, a four-part mini-doc that highlights the history of Latinx LGBT representation on Film and TV for Netflix YouTube. The series received a Gold Anthem Webby Award, a testament to its impact and importance.
