Kate Bush's musical journey began with her introduction to the piano at a young age, and by her mid-teens, she had composed an impressive array of over 200 songs, showcasing her innate talent. Her exceptional abilities soon caught the attention of renowned musician David Gilmour, who played a pivotal role in arranging her contract with EMI.
In 1978, Kate released her first single, "Wuthering Heights", which skyrocketed to the top spot on the English charts, marking the beginning of her illustrious career as a singer and musician. As her popularity grew, Kate took the reins, producing her own albums and videos, which allowed her to express her creative vision more freely.
Her fascination with the world of film was evident in her 1985 music video for "Cloudbusting", which starred the esteemed Donald Sutherland and can be viewed as a mini-film in its own right. Another notable video from that year, "Hounds of Love", served as a tribute to the iconic filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock.
Following the release of her 1993 album, "The Red Shoes", which drew inspiration from the work of filmmaker Michael Powell, Kate went on to produce the short film, The Line, the Cross & the Curve (1993),which used five songs from the album as the foundation for a mystical, mythical retelling of the classic tale of "The Red Shoes".
