Kate Cook, a London-based actor, hails from a renowned family, being a descendant of the illustrious Beerbohm family, which boasts the likes of Herbert Beerbohm Tree, a prominent actor-manager, and his half-brother Max Beerbohm, a celebrated caricaturist and writer. As a result, Kate's heritage is predominantly British, with subtle influences from Germany and Lithuania. Growing up in the countryside with her parents and two sisters, Kate developed a strong affinity for horse riding and lawn mowing, skills she honed before relocating to London to pursue her passion for acting.
Following her training at Arts Ed and a brief stint in the acting profession, Kate took a temporary hiatus to raise her two children. Later, she returned to the world of performance, enrolling in an MA in Text and Performance at Kings College/RADA. It was during this period that she discovered a profound appreciation for writing, a talent that led her to explore the London comedy scene as a stand-up comedian. Kate's writing skills eventually culminated in the creation of her own one-woman show, Invisible Woman, which received widespread acclaim during its performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Brighton, London, and France.
Kate's subsequent role as Mrs. More in the cult horror hit Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist further solidified her reputation as a talented actress. More recently, she has made appearances on the BBC in Years and Years, Call the Midwife, and Eastenders, and can be seen in Seasons 5 and 6 of the Netflix series The Crown, where she portrays Susie Orbach, Princess Diana's therapist.
