Keiko Kitagawa, renowned for her captivating portrayal of Sailor Mars in the live-action series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (PGSM),is a multifaceted individual who has effortlessly transitioned from a magazine model to a talented actress and singer.
Born on August 22nd, 1986, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, Keiko's life has been marked by unexpected twists and turns. Growing up in Kobe, she faced the devastating aftermath of the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, which claimed the lives of many friends and left an indelible mark on her childhood.
As she navigated her teenage years, Keiko found herself uncertain about her childhood dream of becoming a doctor. However, fate had other plans in store for her. A talent agency scouted her, recognizing her innate star quality, and approached her parents for approval.
Securing her parents' blessing was no easy feat, as they were primarily concerned with her academic pursuits and her eventual university graduation. Nevertheless, Keiko's determination and talent ultimately prevailed, as she went on to win the prestigious Miss Seventeen 2003 title and secure a modeling contract that lasted until 2006.
Her breakthrough role as Rei Hino, aka Sailor Mars, in the live-action series of Sailor Moon marked her acting debut. Following this success, Keiko appeared in numerous films, including the notable Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which afforded her the opportunity to work in the United States and attend premieres.
This experience sparked a newfound passion for the English language, and Keiko has since become fluent in the language. Her dedication to her craft has also led her to continue her studies, with a major in Commercial Science at Meiji University in Tokyo.
In 2007, Keiko is busy working on five new projects, including a new drama series, Mop Girl, which is currently airing on Asahi TV. Throughout her journey, Keiko has remained committed to her studies and her passions, consistently demonstrating her versatility and talent as a performer.
