Keiron Self, a talented individual, was born in Newport, Wales, and went on to read English at Oxford University. He then pursued his passion for the performing arts at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.
In 1993, Keiron left the college and, along with some colleagues, co-founded the Mappa Mundi theatre group, with the aim of producing their own unique adaptations of classic plays. The same year, he married actress Lynne Seymour, who played the role of Ophelia in his production of Hamlet, and they welcomed twins, Molly and Jake, in 2001.
Initially, Mappa Mundi relied heavily on box office revenue to support their productions. However, in 2006, they joined forces with Theatr Mwldan, and their innovative productions, including a cross-dressing King Lear and an all-male Taming of the Shrew, received widespread acclaim.
Although the company's productions were primarily based in Wales, their recent productions of 'She Stoops To Conquer' and 'Dangerous Liaisons' were also well-received at venues in England.
In 2007, Keiron lent his support to 'It's My Shout', an arts project designed to nurture young Welsh performers. As a writer, he has provided scripts for several children's television shows, and is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the lovable but eccentric dentist, Roger Bailey, in the popular sitcom 'My Family'.
Initially intended to appear in only one episode, Keiron's character became a regular fixture on the show due to his endearing goofy nature. As of 2010, Keiron and his family reside in Cardiff.
