Kevin's journey in the film industry began after graduating from the DIT film program, where he made a name for himself with his short script "Horse". This script earned him prestigious awards from the Arts Council of Ireland and Filmbase, and he went on to direct the film himself.
"Horse" received a rare theatrical release, screening in Dublin's premier cinema, the Savoy One, for six weeks. The film's accolades continued to pile up, as it won Best Short at the Galway Film Fleadh and Best European Short at the Premiers Plan Festival in Angers, France.
Kevin's subsequent short script, "A Soldier's Song", also received critical acclaim. It won the Irish Film Board/RTÉ script award and went on to claim several more awards, including Best Irish Short at the Cork film festival, Best of the Fest at the Edinburgh film festival, and Irish Times' critic's choice for best Irish short of the year.
Kevin's debut feature, "Country", was a major success, winning the Galway Film Festival, Best European film in Verona, Italy, and the San Francisco Film Fest. The film also received a nomination for Best Director at the San Sebastian film festival.
In addition to his work as a director, Kevin has also taught film at several institutions, including the DIT in Dublin and Dundalk, the Dunlaoghaire school of Art and Design, and the John Huston film school in Galway.
Kevin's latest project is the prime-time drama series "On Home Ground", which he directed the first two TV hours of. He has also been working on script editing "Rory" for Declan Quinn, and is set to direct his own script, "The Suffering Kind", a meditation on the power of delusion and the longings that haunt us.
