Kibwe Dorsey, born October 24, 1974, in Yonkers, New York, is the middle child of seven, his passion for music ignited by the phenomenal singing voices of his parents, Garfield Dorsey Jr. and Mildred Dorsey, who were operatically trained and a member of an up-and-coming singing group, respectively.
Growing up, Kibwe's gift for music took root, and he credits his mother, Mildred, for his abilities, talents, and grooming. Despite being fearful to sing publicly as a child, Kibwe eventually overcame his fear and went on to achieve success as a Singer, Songwriter, and Music Producer in the music industry.
Beyond music, Kibwe's love for acting began when his mentor, Sydney Morgan Jr., a Juilliard graduate and accomplished theatre actor, asked him to play the role of "Detective Sampson" in Morgan's original stage play "To Lose Is to Gain". This theatrical opportunity sparked a new journey in Kibwe's life, and he was bitten by "The Acting Bug".
Kibwe has been quoted as saying, "I love acting! If I could sum it up, it would be the sister to singing. That's how close I feel to it." His numerous nominations include Creative Loafing "Best Local Actor", "Best Actor: Feature Film" by the International Christian Film Festival for "The Turnaround", and "Best Supporting Actor: Feature Film" by the International Christian & Music Festival for "Home Of The Brave".
In his own words, Kibwe emphasizes the importance of gratitude, stating, "there are so many gifted and talented people who never get a chance... So I don't take anything for granted and I'm thankful for every opportunity God allows me to receive".
