Action movie enthusiast Kimani Ray Smith started his career as a stunt performer on Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx" in 1994. Over the next three decades, he secured numerous action roles in Hollywood blockbusters, including "I Robot", "Salt", "A-Team", "Twilight", "Total Recall", and both "Deadpool" movies, among many others.
Throughout his career, Kimani has accumulated over 200 credits as a stunt performer, actor, and stunt coordinator. He has been nominated for 20 Leo Awards, which are the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys, in various categories, and has won three of them for Stunt Coordination. His most recent stunt coordinating project is the highly anticipated film "G.I. Joe Origins: Snake Eyes" for Paramount Pictures.
Kimani's childhood was marked by humble beginnings, as his father, a Black Panther, and mother, a Cherokee/Irish novelist, raised him and his family in Detroit. After his father's passing, his mother moved the family to Arizona to reconnect with their Indigenous roots. During their two-year stay in a teepee in the desert, Kimani developed a deep appreciation for storytelling.
Kimani's love for films was sparked by his first movie experience at a drive-in theater, where he saw "Star Wars: A New Hope". This marked the beginning of his lifelong passion for cinema.
In addition to his stunt work, Kimani has directed episodes of various TV shows, including SyFy/Netflix's "Van Helsing", CW's "Two Sentence Horror Stories", Disney/FreeForm's "Motherland: Fort Salem", and AMC/Shudder's "Horror Noire". His latest feature film release is "The Painter" for Paramount Plus.
