Kinyumba Mutakabbir, a rising star in Hollywood, has been making his mark in the entertainment industry with his impressive performances in various television series and films. Currently, he stars in the FOX television series STAR, an hour-long drama executive produced, written, and directed by Lee Danies. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, the show follows the rise to stardom of Carlotta, a talented singer, and three orphan singers she manages and eventually fosters.
Mutakabbir plays the role of Carlotta's love interest and the ultimate benefactor of the group's music career. His character has appeared in other prime-time films, including Coins For Christmas alongside Essence Atkins, Slammed with Patricia De Leon, and the face of Ben Rasmey's written and directed films Black Salt and Interface.
Both Black Salt and Interface were winners of the Urban Action Showcase and featured on HBO's streaming platforms. He has also starred in a Cinemax series, Zane's The Jumpoff, written by New York Times bestselling author Zane. Mutakabbir's additional TV credits include appearances on major shows such as The Catch, Angie Tribeca, Bold and The Beautiful, The Haunted Hathaways, and Dark Blue.
In addition to his acting career, Mutakabbir is the founder of Kinsmen Studios, a production company that specializes in action, drama, and Sci-fi content across digital, television, and feature films. The company is currently in development for a film he penned, Code 3, a dramatic thriller with roots in Sci-Fi that rivals "The Sixth Sense" with its twist ending and introduces empathy in a way never before seen in cinema.
Mutakabbir's charitable work includes his involvement with The Awareness Movement in Los Angeles, a grassroots organization that creates content to facilitate a positive dialogue between local communities and law enforcement, as well as giving a voice to disenfranchised voters in urban communities. He also volunteers at several schools in Los Angeles, providing scene study classes with a focus on African American classic playwrights.
