Biography

Kirk Diedrich's remarkable acting career commenced at a tender age, with a pivotal role as Patent Clerk #2 in his elementary school's production of "Thomas Edison: The Electric Light Man". His teacher was thoroughly impressed by his remarkable ability to commit lines to memory and his confidence in not faltering under the pressure of performing in front of an audience comprising parents. This notable achievement paved the way for his subsequent role as John McHenry, the charismatic host of "That's Entertainment!", the following year.

Kirk's unwavering enthusiasm for the theatrical arts persisted unabated despite the initial obstacle. In his high school days, he had the privilege of being cast in a production of Li'l Abner, where he took on the role of one of the "before" husbands, showcasing his burgeoning talent.

As he navigated his post-high school pursuits, Kirk explored a diverse array of potential career paths, including the creative realm of art, the precise field of dentistry, the somber and respectful profession of mortuary science, and even the solemn and dignified occupation of grave digging.

Ultimately, Kirk's academic endeavors led him to enroll in Wayne State University's esteemed theater program, a prestigious institution that would provide him with the ideal environment to hone his craft, nurture his passion, and lay the foundation for a successful and fulfilling career in the performing arts.

Kirk's creative journey at Wayne State University marked the beginning of his foray into playwriting, as he started penning original scripts and simultaneously joined the esteemed acting troupe, "Miniature Sun presents". This talented collective, known for their innovative and intellectually stimulating productions, embarked on a touring odyssey throughout the Detroit area's vibrant coffeehouse scene. Kirk's exceptional work in this capacity garnered him widespread recognition, including the prestigious accolade of Best Director for his masterful minimalist direction of Howard Korder's "Search and Destroy", as well as the coveted honor of Best Actor for his captivating performance in Neil Simon's poignant and humorous "Brighton Beach Memoirs".

Kirk's passion for the world of theater remained unwavering as he pursued his academic endeavors at Brandeis University, where he immersed himself in the study of dramatic writing, developing his skills as a playwright and honing his craft through the creation of original works. During his time at Brandeis, Kirk saw two of his plays, "Last Call" and "Burnt", brought to life as part of the esteemed Annual Festival of the Arts, a prestigious event that showcased the talents of emerging writers and artists. In addition to his work as a playwright, Kirk also had the opportunity to tread the boards as a performer, taking on roles in several productions at both Brandeis and regional theaters, further solidifying his connection to the world of theater and laying the groundwork for a successful and fulfilling career in the arts.

Kirk, a talented individual, embarked on a journey after completing his education, relocating to California where he pursued a career in commercials and live stage performances, with a primary focus on sketch comedy. He is a distinguished member and director of the Main Company and Bravo Company at the esteemed ACME Comedy Theatre, where he has had the privilege of working alongside accomplished artists such as Adam Carolla, Alex Borstein, and Joel McHale.
