Kirk Harris is a daring self-starter who has made a name for himself in the film industry as an actor and filmmaker.
Recently, he directed the film "Dakota", starring Abbie Cornish, Lola Sultan, Patrick Muldoon, Tim Rozon, and William Baldwin, which is set to be released in the US by Samuel Goldwyn on April 1, 2022, with Universal owning the international rights.
In addition to "Dakota", Harris also directed "The Quest for Tom Sawyer's Gold" for Ace Entertainment, which is set to be released by Lionsgate in the US.
He has also directed and produced the "Bernie The Dolphin" and "Bernie The Dolphin 2" films for Ambi Media Group, which were released in the US by Lionsgate.
Harris is partnered with Marty Poole in the production-world sales company Fairway Film Alliance, which has produced fourteen feature films and handled sales on over seventy titles.
He founded the production-distribution label Rogue Arts in 2004, which has handled films that premiered at Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, and the Cannes Film Festivals.
As an actor, Harris has starred in several notable indie films, including "The Kid: Chamaco" (recently re-released as "Gloves of Stone"),alongside Martin Sheen, Alex Perea, Danny Perea, Gustavo Sanchez Parra, Raul Mendez, and Michael Madsen. The film was a "Critic's Pick" in its theatrical run, praised by both the New York Times and Chicago Tribune.
Harris is also a writer, with five films to his credit, as well as two spec scripts that were sold to studios and optioned TV Pilots.
Kevin Thomas of the LA Times has praised Harris, stating "As talented an actor as filmmaker" in his review of Harris' debut feature film "loser" (1996),which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and starred Harris alongside Peta Wilson, shot by celebrated cinematographer Kent Wakeford.
Born in San Bernardino, California, Harris was a former amateur boxer and athlete in high school, competing in football, baseball, and wrestling. He considers himself retired from acting and is now focused on writing and directing.
