Lee Kung-Lok, a celebrated and accomplished Hong Kong film director, initiated his artistic endeavors by enrolling in the esteemed Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to pursue a degree in Painting in the year 1991.
As the years unfolded, Lee Kung-Lok dedicated himself to refining his expertise, taking on the position of assistant director in 1999 for the cinematic endeavour "House of the Damned" (屍氣逼人),a pivotal moment in his career that would lay the groundwork for future achievements.
However, as the film industry faced a significant downturn, Lee Kung-Lok demonstrated his adaptability and resilience by transitioning to a television production assistant role, a decision that would enable him to continue growing professionally despite the challenging circumstances.
Lee Kung-Lok's professional endeavors extended far beyond the realm of television, as he also ventured into the realm of filmmaking by producing making-of features for China Star, a prominent production company in the industry.
During his tenure at China Star, Lee had the privilege of collaborating with the renowned Wong Ching-Po, a prolific figure in the Hong Kong film industry. This fruitful partnership ultimately gave rise to the establishment of Red Flag Production, a production company that would go on to produce and direct numerous films.
One of the most notable projects to emerge from this partnership was the film "Fu Bo" in 2003, which marked a significant milestone in Lee's career as a co-producer and director.
Lee Kung-Lok received an esteemed invitation in the year 2006 from the renowned Andy Lau, the esteemed chairman of Focus Films Limited, to participate in the prestigious FOCUS First Cuts program, thereby affording him the extraordinary opportunity to helm his inaugural solo feature film, the captivating and unconventional "My Mother Is a Belly Dancer" (師奶唔易做).
