Ricardo Brown, professionally known as Kurupt, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before relocating to Long Beach, California, where he forged lasting friendships with influential rappers Snoop Dogg and Daz Dillinger.
Kurupt's early career took off when he signed with Death Row Records, a prominent label founded by Suge Knight. Under this banner, he collaborated with Daz Dillinger to release the album "Tha Dogg Pound", which went on to sell an impressive 4 million copies to date. He also made significant contributions to several iconic West Coast hip-hop albums, including "All Eyes On Me", "Doggystyle", and "The Chronic", all of which were released on Death Row Records.
Later in his career, Kurupt transitioned to Antra Entertainment, a label based in his hometown of Philadelphia. He released three successful albums through this imprint, with each subsequent release surpassing the previous one in terms of commercial success.
However, Kurupt's personal life was not without its challenges. He faced financial difficulties and struggled to support his family. In a bid to turn his fortunes around, he returned to Death Row Records, now rebranded as Tha Row, where he currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the company.
In his free time, Kurupt pursues his passion for filmmaking. His personal life has been marked by several high-profile relationships, including engagements to Foxy Brown and Natina Reed, a member of the R&B group Blaque. Kurupt has a son, Trey, born in 2002, with Natina Reed, and is currently engaged to Gail Gotti, a female artist.
